Paradise

London welcomed us back with rain and cool temperatures. I have decided not to wash Michaela's hair for a few days because her hair still smells like the sea.  When she sits on my lap I can close my eyes and pretend I am still there!!!

This one is a little hazy it was taken with my phone (as are all the pictures from Greece--we don't need to get into that again!) and there was so much heat in the air.  I took this from the front porch of our room at sunset.

The zig zag path in the first picture is a bike trail called Zoro.... I took the picture from our beach--the next picture is Darryl at the top of Zoro.  Thomas, Michaela and I did all of our riding on more flat terrain.  Although in the picture above Michaela had just returned from a ride with the kids club and she managed quite a big hill in mid-afternoon 40 + heat.  We were all very impressed!

His post ride reward.

The little grill house above was Darryl's second post ride reward... they make the BEST gyros pita EVER.  Darryl went every day... we calculated that he ate about 20-25 pitas in the week we were there. The kids and I had a few as well.  The next picture is Thomas having a little fun with his fish-feeding him french fries.  And the last one here is our table on the warf. All of the little restaurants have their tables outside along the water and the actual building (with the kitchen) is across the street.  It is entertaining just to watch them race across the street navigating through the traffic with full trays of food--a practiced talent for sure!

The kids did an amazing job windsurfing...........................................................................................

Until Michaela crashed into an anchored boat.  After all that work getting her sail up she didn't want to let go!

We got lots of time in the sailboats as well.  Everyone is really relaxed--very non-north American in the sense that you don't have to sign your life away in a mass of waivers and releases.  You can just grab the equipment and head out.  What we don't have any pictures of is Darryl and I "supping".  It turned out to be one of my favourite things to do.  It's the stand up paddle boards. You use a surf board and a paddle and you stand on it and paddle around.  It was  tricky at first, but once I got the hang of it it was a lot of fun.  After I dropped the kids off in the morning, I was able to go out when the water was calm and "sup" around.  Very peaceful and relaxing.

The kids club had a crazy hair day... and the last photo here was from the scavenger hunt to find materials to build a boat that they all raced in the pool.  The kids club was amazing.  They were busy from sun up to sun down and on the Friday evening they even had movie and a pizza night were the kids were supervised until 10:30 pm. Coincidently that was July 15 which was Darryl and my anniversary so we got to go into town for a dinner without the kids-- a lovely bonus.
We were all very sad to leave Greece :(

  4. No he did not eat the fish head... but he did play around with it a bit first--really gross actually. I like some fish, but would not be able to eat it like that. It was a lot of work too, because you had to pick out the bones as you went. The kids got along really well with the other kids and it was basically like they were in summer camp. We found that tour company online and were a little skeptical because we had some trouble booking online from Canada (it's a UK company), and then we read some mixed reviews about other locations they use... Anyway it turns out it was the best vacation--something for everyone.
