Back Pack tour of the V and A Museum

Since it was another rainy day we spent most of it (thus far) inside the Vand A Museum and did a back back tour.  At the front entrance you see the concierge for a list of available tours.  Thomas and Michaela picked the "Time Traveller Tour" that took us through the Renaissance and Medieval times.  What you do is pick up a back back that has a map and some activities that lead  you through certain parts of the museum.  At designated points in the museum you stop and take out one of the activities as directed by the guide.  The teacher in me thought this was a great idea...and as a tourist it was a great way to scale down the overwhelming experience of walking into the museum: there was a real focus.

The first activity we pulled out was a hat that was a replica of one of the hats someone in this massive tapestry was wearing.  There was then a description of the significance of the hat and who might of worn it etc.... Each stop on the backpack tour had a hands on prop that went with the exhibit.  Even little Bennett joined in the fun!

One of the stops had the kids dress up and asked them to make funny faces the way a jester or entertainer would do at a Medieval festival.  This is what we got!

The sun was out for our walk home!
